Launched in Spring 2011, Yul Taylor came on the scene with a capsule collection of handbags individually crafted in the Philippines. But Yul is not a newcomer to the fashion world. Though design has always been an important part of her life, first came the exposure to many different cultures. Born in the Ukraine, Yul spent her childhood living in Kiev, Moscow, Italy and even on the northernmost point of Russia near the tip of Finland.
 
After moving to Washington DC, she received a bachelor’s degree in business. During an inspirational stint at the luxury retailer Neiman Marcus, Yul got educated on the best of the design world. It was then that she pursued a second degree in Fashion. During her studies, Yul won multiple awards, including a scholarship from Fashion Group International, the NAMSB award, and the Emerging Designer Award from Perrier.
 
While still earning her degree, Yul teamed up with her now husband Craig Taylor and found herself traveling to Paris, London, Italy and Hong Kong with the design team to learn the ins and outs of the industry. After graduating at the top of her class, for the last 10 years Yul has been a stylist and designer for the Craig Taylor brand.
 
Understanding the Craig Taylor customer, and their expectations for the finest, Yul set out to design a range of products to compliment the Craig Taylor luxury lifestyle look. Traveling to the far corners of the world, Yul has the advantage of being exposed to many different influences. But don’t expect the same thing season after season, as the philosophy behind the brand is unique- to offer exceptionally designed and meticulously crafted products in different categories. Taylor explains, “I wanted the flexibility to design a variety of products, and keep our customer excited and curious as to what will come up next”.
 
The husband and wife team continues to travel and scour the world for the next “we have to do this!” project. Check back every season to see what’s new, and don’t be surprised if you see Yul come out with a signature purple paisley armchair!
